Thorn Green is in an idyllic location, tucked away in the beautiful, unspoilt valley of the River East Allen and perfect for ramblers and cyclists or those who simply yearn for the relaxation of a truly rural retreat. Pony trekking is available at Sinderhope 3 miles away and the cottage is only 1 mile from the picturesque moorland village of Allenheads, which sits at the head of the Allen Valley and where many facilities are available including its own Heritage Centre. 9 miles further up the Pennines is the remote market town of Alston; it sits 1300 feet above sea level and claims to be the highest settlement in England and is the starting point for the South Tyne Railway. Thorn Green has the unique advantage of being nestled between Hadrian's Wall Country and the North Pennines with easy access to the Eden Valley and the Lake District National Park making this a superb base for exploring one of the most tranquil areas of Northern England.
