The majestic Alnwick Castle, the ancestral seat of the Percy Dukes of Northumberland with its sumptuous interiors (and film location for Harry Potter's Hogwarts Academy), is a mere 600 metres away, while a short 3 minute walk brings you to the pedestrian entrance to the new Alnwick Garden, which, with its Grand Cascade, water sculptures, poison garden and the largest tree house in Europe, is one of the major visitor attractions in the area. Alnwick, with its cobbled streets, was recently nominated by "Country Life" the best place in Britain to live and offers a wide range of amenities including a live theatre (which also shows films), leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, health spa and gym, and an 18 hole golf course.
The wild, heather topped expanses of the Cheviot Hills are a short drive West and the sweeping sandy beaches and coastal castles for which this heritage coastline is renowned are only 5 miles to the East. This is, therefore, an ideal location for those wishing to combine convenient access for a wide range of facilities while still being able to enjoy the outdoor experience of the moors and hills of the Northumberland National Park and the coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
