Craster (where filming for the TV series, Distant Shores was based) sits mid way along the beautiful 20-mile stretch of Heritage coastline this area is renowned for and where a stunning coastal walk leads you to the 14th century ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, close by. Just 7 miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, boasting its own dramatic castle, often referred to as 'The Windsor of the North' and ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter's Hogwarts Academy). Alnwick Garden is an interesting visitor attraction with its spectacular Grand Cascade waterfall, a Poison Garden and a restaurant incorporated within the largest tree house in Europe!
