Description

Dairy Cottage is an attached stone built cottage situated in the private grounds of a substantial Grade II listed farmhouse on the edge of the highly sought after coastal village of Warkworth. Originally constructed in 1802 with servants quarters added around a century later this beautiful property formerly belonged to the Duke of Northumberland and rented out as working farmhouse alongside the adjoining land. The entire property which sits within a half an acre has been privately owned since 1989. The servants quarters have been transformed to create Dairy Cottage;  a self catering holiday cottage awarded 4* by Visit England. The secluded garden with private patio area is a real feature of this property; an idyllic peaceful retreat to dine alfresco and admire the uninterrupted rural views across fields and countryside towards the coastline and Coquet Island.

About the local area

Dairy Cottage is located on the fringe of the picture postcard village of Warkworth, where a friendly greeting regularly welcomes visitors. This pretty village lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic castle and is surrounded by the River Coquet, which gently ebbs and  flows close by. There are many facilities available within the village including quaint shops, charming pubs, several galleries and a couple of good restaurants. A short walk from the village leads to an extensive sweep of golden sandy beach. Amble known locally as 'the friendliest port' is where fishing and boat trips to Coquet Island can be arranged only 2 miles away to watch the puffins at play. The historic market town of Alnwick dominated by its own dramatic fortress offers a wide range of amenities, including a theatre/cinema, many restaurants and shops as well as an indoor swimming pool only 8 miles inland. Dairy Cottage is superbly placed for those seeking a peaceful retreat in an idyllic setting yet very close to the shoreline of the beautiful Northumbrian coastline designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
