Description

Situated only 200 yards from what is arguably one of the most stunning beaches in Northumberland this delightful barn conversion offers excellent coastal accommodation. Sandsedge Cottage (named after the sand dune grass) sits at the edge of a small cluster of stone cottages which have been carefully restored to retain many of their original features. Exposed beams and stone work all add to its character and the arched window in the lounge maximises its bright and airy ambience whilst enjoying the friendly comfort of the multi fuel stove,  ensuring this property is a cosy choice regardless of the season. The spectacular, golden sweeping vista of Druridge Bay is nestled by rolling sand dunes; idyllic for those who enjoy walking barefoot in the sand, inhale the invigorating sea air and listen to the waves lapping against this beautiful seashore - and only a gentle stroll from Sandsedge Cottage!
Sandsedge Cottage is an excellent choice for guests seeking easy access to one of the finest shorelines in England that is deservedly recognised as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

About the local area

A well stocked farm shop with welcoming cafe is only half a mile from the property. There is a Country Park nearby, which offers a Nature Sanctuary, a visitor centre and where many water sports are available on Ladyburn Lake, also renowned for its copious wildlife. The traditional fishing village of Amble, known locally as ’the friendliest port’ is 5 miles north and where boat trips to Coquet Island, populated by basking seals and breeding gulls and puffins, depart regularly. The historic market town of Morpeth, with its winding River Wansbeck, offers an extensive range of facilities only 9 miles south. Alnwick Castle along with the charitable project of Alnwick Garden, created by the Duchess of Northumberland, has a lovely woodland walk, a grand cascade waterfall and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe are popular visitor attractions. For those seeking more lively entertainment, the cultural metropolis of newcastle and extensive shopping facilities at Gateshead’s Metro Centre are around 20 miles south.
