Swallow Lodge is idyllically situated being only a short stroll from Druridge Bay Country Park entrance. The country park leads onto the expansive sand dunes and sweep of golden, often empty, sandy beach at Druridge Bay. This delightful well equipped self-catering annexe is attached to the owners’ beautiful Scandinavian style timber lodge home where a warm and friendly welcome awaits visitors. The living space with dining area and contemporary well equipped kitchen is situated on the ground floor. The bedroom and en-suite are upstairs where you will find the soft bamboo towels are super absorbent and hypo-allergenic. There is restricted headroom above the bath and there also is an immaculate double walk in shower room on the ground floor of the owner’s home available if required.
The property is immaculately presented throughout and the award-winning water garden has three individual relaxing/eating areas to enjoy dining alfresco whilst enjoying the pond life and waterfalls. The garden has been created with four ponds which can be fully enjoyed by garden and photography lovers alike. New addition; a sunken outdoor, roofed area suitable for eating/reading/painting/creative writing.
Swallow Lodge sits amongst a small cluster of similar style log properties close to Druridge Bay Country Park where there is a nature sanctuary with many water sports available on Ladyburn Lake. Druridge Bay has rolling sand dunes which are ideal for those who wish to indulge in the simple pleasure of walking barefoot in the sand, inhale the invigorating sea air and watching the waves lapping against its beautiful seashore. Swallow Lodge is positioned on the fringe of Hadston and provides aquintessential holiday retreat for couples to give an excellent base to explore the 20 miles of Heritage Coastline, a region which is proud to have been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The traditional fishing village of Amble, known locally as ’the friendliest port’ is only 3 miles north where fishing and boat trips to Coquet Island can be arranged. 9 miles south is the ancient market town of Morpeth, where the river Wansbeck winds its way behind the town’s shopping area which offers a wide range of facilities. Alnwick Castle (used as the location of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) has outstanding Gardens created by the Duchess of Northumberland, which includes a lovely woodland walk, a grand cascade waterfall and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Alnwick can be found by taking the beautiful coastal road heading north from the lodge.

Off road parking situated in front of the Lodge. The Lodge has its own decking area with garden furniture. The garden also features four ponds, water features and rockery areas. Dogs must be supervised at all times in the garden and owners are expected to clean up after them.

About the local area

Warkworth is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Northumberland and not only has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and quality gift shops, but also a magnificent castle, located right in the middle of the village, to admire and explore.

The magnificent cross-shaped keep of Warkworth, crowning a hilltop rising steeply above the River Coquet, dominates one of the largest, strongest and most impressive fortresses in northern England. The castle's most famous owners were the Percy family, whose lion badge can be seen carved on many parts of their stronghold.

There are wonderful riverside walks alongside the pretty River Coquet which encircles the village, to watch the abundance of wildlife such as herons, foxes, migrating birds, and a vast, sandy beach with dramatic dunes and wonderful, far-reaching views up and down the Heritage Coastline.

Cyclists can enjoy an easy 18 mile day ride. The route has no major climbs and is featured in the recently published 'Sustrans Cycle Northumberland' booklet. Starting in the village, the route heads west inland on quiet lanes, and passes through Guyzance, Acklington and Broomhill. Rejoining the coast at the vast expanse of Druridge Bay and returning north via the fishing port of Amble.
