Northumberland's western edges contain some of its most spectacular destinations, and the Kielder and Redesdale region is no exception. While the countryside is remote, and all the more beautiful for that, there is a wealth of activities on offer for everyone.
Kielder Water & Forest Park is the site of Northern Europe's largest man-made lake. There are also acres of forest to explore. Purpose-built walking trails create perfect forest walks to see a wide range of rare wildlife including the native red squirrels, deer, otters and badgers.
Dedicated mountain bike tracks including a bike skills area scatter the area. Water sports enthusiasts can take to Kielder Water from Easter to October and the lake offers a great challenge to keen trout anglers between March and October.
However if a relaxing stroll is more your thing, you can strike out on your own and explore Wild Redesdale, a great place just to enjoy nature in its most natural form, following in the footsteps of the Romans while hearing the call of Moorland birds.
Kielder is also an ideally placed for exploring the rest of Northumberland, Cumbria, Hadrian's Wall Country and the Scottish Borders.

Fantastic property, value for money, the owners have thought of everything to ensure the stay goes smoothly, great gestures including a surprise welcome of fresh scones, bread & milk. Definately would recommend, very friendly place and owners.
It is an absolutely superb property and excellent value for money. It was clean, well equipped, and warm. The owners (next door) are delightful and gave us such a warm welcome with freshly baked home made scones and jam. We'd totally recommend this cottage.
A really delightful property and hosts. Very well furnished and decorated, comfortable living and sleeping accommodation. A lot of thought has gone into making this as enjoyable and comfortable a home as possible. Friendly hosts who live next door and were enormously helpful. Lovely small village with excellent pub, fantastic area. Can't recommend cottage highly enough!
