About the local area

Although this is spectacular, rural location, its approached via a quiet section of the A68, therefore giving easy access to explore this particularly beautiful part of the region.  The welcoming small town of Bellingham offers many facilities less than 3 miles away and Otterburn Mill attracts many tourists 8 miles North.  The historic market town of Hexham, dominated by its magnificent abbey is only 15 miles away and offers many facilities including a theatre/cinema, indoor swimming pool and is surrounded by several prestigious golf courses.  The National Trust property at Wallington Hall is an interesting visitor attraction close by and trout fly fishing is available at nearby Sweethorpe Lough.  Pony Trekking, windsurfing, sailing and ferry trips are only a small selection of the many outdoor activities that can be arranged at Kielder Water - Europes largest manmade lake - which is cradled by Kielder Forest Park, less than 20 miles away.  Drovers Cottage (which sits on the Reivers cycle route) is a superb base for ramblers and cyclists who wish to discover the many challenging routes across Northumberland and for those seeking luxurious accommodation in a lovely peaceful environment.
