Description
Highfield Farm Cottage is a traditional stone built attached farm cottage in an extremely remote part of Northumberland. The cottage has a cosy open fire in both reception rooms giving it a homely feel. Situated in an area known generically as Tarset, Highfield Forest adjacent is managed by the forestry commission so the cottage is surrounded by woodland and miles of unspoilt countryside. The views are inspiring! Highfield is approached by a single track road around 9 miles west of the A68 heading into the very heart of rural Northumberland. It is close to the English Heritage site of Black Middens Bastle located on the Reivers cycle trail and will appeal to those who yearn to escape into the true Northumbrian countryside.

Kielder is close by and where pony trekking, windsurfing, sailing and ferry trips are only a small selection of the many outdoor activities that can be arranged at Kielder Water - Northern Europe's largest man made lake - which is cradled by Kielder Forest Park, a paradise for ramblers and cyclists who will enjoy the various challenging routes close by. The pretty village of Bellingham offers many facilities around 7 miles away. This is an area with a rich Heritage to explore and an excellent base to discover the wild and lonely beauty across western Northumberland and beyond. The popular market town of Hexham, dominated by its majestic abbey is around 30 miles away and Otterburn is 10 miles east. The Scottish border is less than 20 miles making Highfield Farm Cottage an excellent rural base to explore Northumberland and the Scottish Borders alike.
