Alwinton is the last village up the Coquet Valley situated within the Northumberland National Park and is where the rivers Alwin and Coquet meet. Surrounded by mile after mile of wild and open vistas this rural location is simply idyllic for ramblers and cyclists. A warm welcome greets visitors to this picturesque perfect, friendly village where a pub serving good food is adjacent to Hosedon House.
The popular stone built small town of Rothbury sits at the foot of the Lardenshaw and Simonside Hills 10 miles away. Rothbury offers an abundance of facilities including several shops, pubs and quaint tea rooms and golf can be arranged on its riverside course. Close by is the Grade II listed National Trust property and estate of Cragside; it was the first home to be lit by hydro-electricity and the elegant house and its grounds are interesting visitor attractions. The historic market town of Alnwick is 20 miles east. Protected by its dramatic castle, the ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland it is also famous as the film location for Harry Potter. The superb Alnwick Garden, with its Grand Cascade waterfall and the restaurant in the largest tree house in Europe is a popular visitor attraction too. The Heritage coastline this area is renowned for, and designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also well worth a visit.

The property was excellent - it had everything we needed and was very clean. It had stunning views and the owner was very pleasant. 
Very good accomodation would stay again ( didnt like the aga though )
Highly recommended property, good if you have children, we had four with us.
