This is 'Hadrians Wall Country', an area with a rich heritage to explore - Vindolanda and Housesteads roman fort museum are historic visitor attractions close by. The popular market town of Hexham, dominated by its majestic abbey, boasts many amenities including a theatre/cinema, leisure centre and splendid golf course less that 15 miles East. Carlisle is approximately 23 miles West, making this an ideal base for those wishing to explore the delights of West Northumberland with easy access to the stunning beauty of the Lake District National Park.
