Six miles away lies the historic market town of Hexham, often recognised as the jewel in Northumberland's crown. Dominated by its majestic abbey, Hexham offers many facilities including a cinema/theatre, indoor swimming, numerous charming shops and quaint tea rooms along with several prestigious golf courses. This is the heart of Hadrian's Wall Country, an area with a rich heritage to explore (Vindolands and Housesteads Roman Fort Museum are both interesting visitor attractions) and is a walkers' and cyclists' paradise with miles of wild and beautiful countryside to discover - the Hadrian's Wall footpath is less than half a mile away from the propert.
