A three mile walk along the banks of the River Tyne brings you to Corbridge, often referred to as 'the jewel in the crown of Northumberland' and where its market square is surrounded by quaint tea rooms and charming specialist shops.  The historic town of Hexham, dominated by its magnificent abbey, lies six miles west and offers an array of amenities including a theatre/cinema, indoor swimming, horse riding and several prestigious golf courses.  This is 'Hadrian's Wall County' an area with a rich heritage to explore, coupled with easy access to the vibrant City of Newcastle, renowned for its global, cultural pursuits and the extensive shopping and leisure facilities at Gateshead's Metro Centre, being less that 15 miles East.
