Description
In the heart of the picture postcard coastal village of Bamburgh, Longstone Cottage is an impressive stone-built property, which has recently undergone a major refurbishment to provide self-catering holiday accommodation to an exceptionally high standard.
Once the village post office, this unique property is divine!  Immaculately presented throughout and with much care, thought and attention to the finer details, the accommodation on offer provides the epitome of luxury.  Tastefully decorated with sumptuous furnishings this spacious property boasts four generous bedrooms, two of them with the convenience of en-suite shower facilities and also a contemporary family bathroom too ensuring this accommodation will appeal to the gathering of family and friends alike, or perhaps for those couples looking for something very special…….Longstone Cottage is positioned close to the dramatic Bamburgh castle, which commands the power and presence of the seasoned film set it regularly becomes. This prestigious tourist destination offers several restaurants, charming pubs and quaint tea rooms along with ample local facilities including a convenience store, butcher, gift shops and a gallery as well as the Grace Darling Museum all only a gentle stroll away from Longstone Cottage. The wide expanse of golden and often empty sandy beach that Bamburgh is renowned for is idyllic and is where the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island and is the birth place of Christianity, can be viewed from. Two miles north is the bird sanctuary of Budle Bay where at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to countless thousands of sea and land birds making this location a haven for bird watchers. The traditional fishing village of Seahouses is only 3 miles down the coastline which has a good range of local shops including a Co-op and the Chinese takeaway and Indian restaurant are well worth a visit.  Boat trips to the Farne Islands – famous for bird sanctuaries and the seal colony – can be arranged from the harbour in Seahouses.  There are several golf courses, some of them at championship level, in the area and horse riding is available close by too.  The elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon-rich river Tweed, is 17 miles north and the bustling market town of Alnwick with its own magnificent castle is the ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) also offering many facilities around 15 miles away.  Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant set within the largest tree house in Europe!
