Eider Cottage is nestled within the prestigious and friendly hamlet of Waren Mill and only a matter of yards from the sea! This small courtyard of four whinstone built cottages was once traditional fisherman's cottages and over the years extended and improved to become the homes for the millers of Waren Mill. With the mill no longer in operation these cottages have now been lovingly transformed to provide superb holiday accommodation in a fabulous seaside setting. The ambience throughout Eider Cottage is homely and welcoming with a cosy log burning stove nestled in a charming Inglenook fireplace in the lounge. The accommodation is immaculately presented throughout and the enclosed shared courtyard patio area at the rear is an idyllic spot to dine al fresco.
Waren Mill and its surrounding area are steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to countless thousands of sea and land birds making this location a haven for bird watchers. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, which commands the power and presence of the seasoned film set it regularly becomes is only 2 miles south with its wide expanse of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne , locally known as Holy Island and the birth place of Christianity, can be viewed. A warm welcome greets guests to Belford, which offers many facilities including a golf driving range only 3 miles inland. Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony - from the harbour in the traditional fishing village of Seahouses or enjoy horse riding or a round of golf on the links 5 miles down the seashore. The market town of Alnwick, with its own castle offers many facilities around 15 miles away; Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
Eider Cottage is a superb coastal retreat for those seeking fresh and comfortable holiday accommodation in a peaceful setting giving guests an easy opportunity to indulge in the simple pleasure of strolling barefoot in the sand, inhale the invigorating sea air and watch the waves lap against the shoreline of this stunning stretch of heritage coastline this region is proud to have awarded as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
