Description

Townend Cottage is a lovely attached bungalow located within the small development of Crawley Dene, a newly built cluster of pretty stone-built cottages situated on the southern edge of the welcoming village of Powburn.  The accommodation is immaculately presented throughout and boasts a fresh and contemporary ambience.  Patio doors leads from the open plan living space into a spacious garden; an idyllic space to relax and enjoy dining al fresco.

A friendly greeting regularly awaits visitors to the village of Powburn, which straddles the A697 to provide easy access to explore this stunning part of Northumberland.  The small and welcoming town of Wooler is found nestled at the foot of the wild, heather-capped expanses of the Cheviot Hills only 8 miles north.  Wooler sits at the gateway to the Northumberland National Park and offers several good restaurants, shops and pubs. This is a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse riding and walking – the challenging route of the ‘St Cuthbert’s Way’ runs close by. The surrounding area, with its spectacular scenery, is known locally as Glendale - the inspiration for ‘Postman Pat’s Greendale’.  Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish without a rod licence in a picturesque 4-acre lake close by.  The elegant Georgian town of Berwick, where the salmon-rich River Tweed runs through is a half hour drive away. The cobbled, market town of Alnwick, protected by its own dramatic fortress, which is home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) offers a wide array of amenities only 10 miles east and the picturesque village of Rothbury where the River Coquet ebbs and flows is 11 miles away.  Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to experience the Grand Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe.  The National Trust property at Cragside is well worth a visit too.  The sweeping golden, sandy beaches and dramatic castles and ruins for which the Northumberland Heritage coastline is renowned for is only a half hour drive east making Townend Cottage an excellent base for exploring both the rugged wild and lonely moors and hills within this beautiful countryside coupled with easy access to the 20-mile stretch of golden sands and rocky outcrops this glorious seashore is designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
