Rock climbing on the Rothbury Moors

The Rothbury Moors can be found to the North of Rothbury and provide a good area for fans of bouldering.  Although yet to be really discovered by climbers this area is worth a visit. There are a number of areas to tackle including Cragend.

Situated on the National Trust Cragside Estate Cragend is on a wooded hillside accessed from the Cragside entrance. The rock is excellent and clean for bouldering.

If you prefer climbing to bouldering then Rothbury Quarry might be more up your street. This sheltered crag lies in woodland on the hillside immediately above the western end of Rothbury. It’s easy to access so is a great spot for an evening challenge.

There are numerous other climbing routes within the moors so you may need more than just a day to discover your favorite spot.
