Just 3 miles west is the popular market town of Hexham, dominated by its majestic abbey; often recognised as the jewel in Northumberland’s crown and where many facilities are available including a cinema/theatre, indoor swimming and a wide array of specialist shops and restaurants. Golfers will delight in the several prestigious courses close by and walkers and cyclists will enjoy discovering the miles of wild and beautiful open countryside surrounding Dilston Cottage. There’s a regular bus service close by and the train station at Corbridge is only a 10 minute stroll and offers excellent links to Newcastle (30 mins) and Carlisle (1 hour).
