This location is idyllic. Although amongst stunning open countryside it is only 5 miles from the coastal village of Beadnell with its wide expanse of golden, sandy bay; a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts. A couple of miles further up the seashore is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses which offers a selection of shops, tea rooms and pubs and where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands - famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony - depart regularly from its harbour. Try your luck at fishing or enjoy a round of golf further up the links. Horse riding can be arranged close by too. Another 3 miles north is the picture postcard village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island - the birthplace of Christianity and site of Lindisfarne Castle - can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. The bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) is just a short drive inland from Head Gardener’s House. Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden - a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
