Description

Sunset Point is a Grade II listed building which overlooks the estuary but is tucked only a gentle stroll away from the facilities available within this highly sought after holiday destination. The accommodation is all on second floor level, with both bedrooms enjoying the luxury of en-suite facilities, meaning this property is perfect for families, friends and couples alike, wishing to holiday together, whilst having their own private facilities. The cosy living area is also immaculately presented and adjoins the tastefully furnished kitchen and dining area. Sunset Point also benefits from private parking for 2 cars.
Alnmouth is a picturesque coastal village, where there is a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops for the discerning visitor, all within walking distance. Sailing enthusiasts have available to them yacht and small boat moorings within the sheltered estuary, and golfing enthusiasts will delight in the two courses close by; one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton, which enjoys panoramic views. An expansive golden, sandy beach is the perfect place for a romantic, barefoot, evening stroll for those who enjoy listening to the lap of the waves and inhaling the invigorating sea air, whilst spending some much needed time alone with their loved one.
The historic market town of Alnwick is only 4 miles inland. Renowned for its cobbled streets, there is a wide array of attractive shops, variety of pubs and tea rooms, cinema/playhouse and leisure facilities, which offers an indoor swimming pool. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts!), is a popular visitor attraction, or visit the Alnwick Gardens, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a Grande Cascade Waterfall and poison garden, and where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest treehouse in Europe! Beach 200 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

About the local area

Alnwick is in the heart of Northumberland, famous for its unspoilt beauty, and is one of the most picturesque areas of countryside in England - with long sandy beaches, quiet friendly villages, the Simonside and Cheviot hills, well preserved medieval Castles, and gardens.

There are numerous Stately Homes in the area including the fantastic Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and often referred to as "The Windsor of the north". The medieval market town originally prospered as a staging post, being only a day's ride from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north and Newcastle upon Tyne in the south. It still retains many of its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and fine stone buildings which now house a range of specialist shops and family businesses as wells as some of what once totaled over 50 inns.

Alnwick Castle, the home of the Duke of Northumberland, provides a wonderful day out for all the family. It has magnificent spacious grounds designed by Capability Brown, domineering medieval towers, a 14th century dungeon, beautiful State Rooms and there are various museums covering the region's military and archaeological history. Next to the Castle is the spectacular Alnwick Garden where you can experience The Grand Cascade with its many weirs and fountains, The Ornamental Garden with more than 15,000 plants, The Rose Garden of walkways heavily scented with climbing and shrub roses, clematis and honeysuckle, and there are many 'secret' gardens where you can sit amongst the pergolas, fruit trees and individual pools. Because it is a continually developing garden with major projects always underway, it provides something new for those that return time after time.

The Alnwick countryside is also a great area for walking, short and long hikes, cycling, fishing, and in fact every kind of country pursuit. South east lies the valleys and heather topped expanses of Coquetdale and the Simonside Hills around Rothbury - a haven for hillwalkers and cyclists and a gateway to the Northumberland National Park.

The coastline of the Alnwick region consists of over 20 spectacular miles of golden sands, rocky outcrops and sand dunes which provide fun days out for all the family and peaceful beach strolls along the sweeping sands of Druridge Bay and Cresswell. Coastal villages include the lively harbour town of Amble, beautiful Warkworth with its magnificent castle, and picturesque Alnmouth, home of the oldest golf course in Britain.
