About the local area

Seahouses offers many facilities including pubs, tea rooms, shops and amusements all within a gentle stroll of Dawson Beach House. Visitors will enjoy wandering along the harbour and watch the trawlers return with their daily catch. Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries, and observe the puffins and seals at play. Horse riding is available only a mile inland. The extensive sweep of golden sands Beadnell Bay is renowned for is only two miles south - a popular destination for water-sport enthusiasts and will also appeal to those who yearn to wander along the miles of unspoilt seashore to touch the sand, listen to the lap of the waves against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air…..The picturesque village of Bamburgh, snuggled in the shadow of its dramatic fortress is aptly described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown and where Holy Island can be seen from its vast expanse of beautiful sandy and often empty, beach only three miles north. Just a few miles inland is the historic market town of Alnwick, protected by its own majestic castle, the ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) which offers many amenities including a playhouse / cinema, several good restaurants, a wide array of shops and a new leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. Alnwick Garden – a spectacular contemporary interpretation of a formal garden and includes a Grand Cascade waterfall, a Poison Garden and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe is a popular visitor attraction.
Dawson Beach House will appeal to those seeking contemporary and well presented accommodation where sea views can be admired and is an excellent base to explore the twenty miles of heritage coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
