About the local area

Dunlin sits in the heart of the highly sought after ’Harbour Road’ within the welcoming village of Beadnell where an inn renowned for its excellent cuisine is only a gentle stroll away.  A small, sandy beach with rocky outcrops is across a road in front of the cottage and the extensive sweep of golden sands Beadnell Bay is famous for is less than 200 yards; a popular location for those who enjoy an extensive range of quality water sports, including sea kayaking and scuba diving.  Only 2 miles north is the fishing port of Seahouses, where golf, horse riding and fishing are available and where boat trips depart regularly.  A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic castle.  Just a few miles inland is the historic market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle, which is the ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potters Hogwarts Academy!)  A wonderful tourist attraction is Alnwick Garden - a spectacular contemporary interpretation of a formal garden and includes the Grand Cascade waterfall, a Poison Garden and the largest tree house in Europe!
