About the local area

A friendly greeting regularly awaits guests to Seahouses which offers many facilities all within a gentle stroll away, including a superb golf course on the links close by.  The village offers a good range of local shops with tea rooms, pubs and restaurants; the Chinese takeaway and Indian restaurant are well worth sampling. Enjoy a romantic wander around the harbour and watch the trawlers return with their daily catch or take a boat trip to try your luck at fishing or visit the Farne Islands to admire the seal colony and bird sanctuaries.  The sweep of golden sands Beadnell Bay is renowned for is only two miles south - a popular destination for water-sport enthusiasts and is appealing to those who yearn to roam barefoot in the sand and listen to the lap of the waves against the shoreline...... 
The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, snuggled in the shadow of its dramatic fortress is aptly described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown only three miles north, where the Holy Island of Lindisfarne can be seen on the horizon and the Grace Darling Museum is interesting to visit.  Just a few miles inland is the historic market town of Alnwick, protected by its own majestic castle, the ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!).  Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction – a spectacular contemporary interpretation of a formal garden includes a Grand Cascade waterfall, a Poison Garden and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
