Description

Situated in the very heart of the picture postcard coastal village of Beadnell nestles Palmer’s Rest, a deceptively spacious bungalow. Adjacent to St Ebba’s Church (named after a Northumbrian princess who founded an abbey in Coldingham in the Scottish Borders) this coastal village location is simply idyllic.
The newly refurbished Palmer’s Rest is a suitable choice for the gathering of family and friends alike. With two double bedrooms at one ‘wing’ of the property and a third double bedroom and a small twin room at another; the layout of the accommodation lends itself to space and privacy. A large, bright sun room is a lovely spot to gather and dine with St Ebba’s Church as a view. It leads to a spacious and well-equipped kitchen. The separate lounge focuses upon a cosy open fire with 50” wall-mounted TV above. With TVs in most rooms there is ample wet-weather entertainment.

About the local area

Beadnell is well known as a holiday destination and offers local facilities including a village shop and pubs serving good food all within a gentle stroll from Palmer’s Rest. Beadnell Bay can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown; idyllic for a romantic barefoot stroll in the sand to listen to the waves lap against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air... It’s also a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving and are within walking distance of Palmer’s Rest. A small sandy bay speckled with rocky outcrops is also close by and leads to a long sandy beach that stretches two miles to the traditional fishing port of Seahouses where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands – famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony – depart regularly from its harbour. Seahouses offers several charming tea rooms, amusements and shops with horse-riding; fishing and golf on the links close by being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island – the birthplace of Christianity and site of Lindisfarne Castle – can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden – a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!

Palmer’s Rest is a suitable choice for families and friends seeking a traditional seaside holiday and with easy access to one of the most glorious beaches in Northumberland, deservedly designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
