Description

Puffins is a beautiful detached house, nestled behind the sand dunes of Beadnell Bay. This stunning property sits within a development of similar clapboard-style properties, known as Beadnell Point. The property is well presented throughout, with full height glass windows in the open plan living space, enhancing its bright and airy ambience, along with the friendly comfort of the wood burner. All three bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, are beautifully furnished with much care, thought and attention to detail. The fresh bathroom has the added convenience of a separate shower cubicle too. A south and west facing decked area is perfect for dining al fresco and embracing the sea air. There is an external store suitable for bikes/surfing equipment and an external tap for hosing off sand and salt. The development, Beadnell Point, has two tennis courts available for guests to use on a first come, first serve basis.
Beadnell is a popular holiday destination and offers local facilities including a village shop and family friendly pubs serving good food. The wide expanse of golden sandy beach which Beadnell Bay is renowned for, is within a gentle stroll of the house. The area is a popular destination for walkers, birdwatchers and water sports enthusiasts with activities including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. Beadnell Bay can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown.
Just 2 miles along the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour. Here you will find fish and chip shops, several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs, shops, fishing and golf. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, with its beach and sand dunes in the shadow of its majestic castle. Further down the coastline is the fishing village of Craster, famous for its kippers, and just a short walk along the coastal path from the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. A few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle and a film location for Harry Potter. Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden, a spectacular garden including the grand waterfall, and where you can also dine within Europe’s largest tree house! Beach 200 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 800 yards.

About the local area

One of the most popular holiday areas on the north east coast, Beadnell consists of three villages in one, Beadnell Harbour, the old Beadnell Village and Beadnell Haven.

The main attractions at Beadnell include its magnificent golden sandy beach, limekilns, small harbour, beautiful coastline, and views to the distant Cheviot Hills. During holiday times the beach is very popular with watersports enthusiasts that like to go diving, sailing, windsurfing, sea canoeing and waterskiing.

Countless coastal walks provide breathtaking views along this Heritage Coastline, especially between Holy Island and Alnmouth, with Beadnell being mid-way. Ramblers will delight in the miles of unspoilt footpaths, splendid beach and country walks. The varied terrain is easily accessible by foreshore and footpaths.

Just along the coast from Beadnell is the town of Seahouses where you can catch the boat over to the Farne Islands.

Once used as a pilgrimage for medieval monks, the Farne Islands are now a cherished destination for nature lovers from across the globe. The cliffs, stacks and grassy tops of this rocky group of islands come alive with sea birds between April and early August. Around 20 different species, as many as 100,000 birds in total, make their home here during the breeding season every year. Some of the birds you are most likely to see on the Islands include Puffins, Razorbill, Guillemots, Eider Duck, and Oystercatchers. The Farne Islands are also the habitat for some interesting and unusual plants. Several of the islands are covered with a layer of light peat, where most of the islands' vegetation is found. Common species to look out for include Borage, Survey Grass, Silverweed and Sorrel.

As well as offering the chance to access to Farne Islands Seahouses also has an abundance of things to do and see including bird watching, horse riding, golfing, cycling and watersports as well as gardens, castles and beaches to visit.
