Railston Cottage is a former coach house which has recently undergone a major transformation and now provides excellent self catering accommodation to a superior standard. Originally built circa 1820 by John Railston, a local seed and grain merchant, it was created to store the horse drawn coach; it is believed the coachman/gardener and his family once lived in the floor above. With a total make over now complete, the property today exudes the epitome of style. Immaculately presented throughout and with much thought, care and attention to detail, Railston Cottage is the perfect choice for the gathering of families and friends or for those couples seeking something rather special. On the ground floor there is an open plan well equipped kitchen with dining area leading to a lovely snug; this tastefully furnished lounge area boasts a cosy wood burning stove to snuggle in front of. Coupled with modern under floor heating it ensures a warm welcome awaits guests to Railston Cottage whatever the season. There is a spacious double bedroom with doors leading to the fully enclosed and excluded walled garden and a ’Jack and Jill’ wet room has convenient wide doors and grab rail for ease of use. A bright and airy sun room overlooking the private garden is the perfect sitting area to read, relax and enjoy a well earned snooze..... On the first floor are a further two bedrooms both with en suite facilities too.

About the local area

Railston Cottage is nestled behind the main street situated on the fringe of the old part of Seahouses and offers a tranquil and perfect retreat. Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, try your luck at fishing or enjoy a round of golf on the links close by. There are several shops, tea rooms, pubs and amusement arcades within this friendly village and horse riding can be arranged only 100 yards from Railston Cottage. Three miles north is the picturesque postcard holiday village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, which commands the power and presence of the seasoned film set it regularly becomes and where the Grace Darling Museum is interesting to visit. The wide expanse of golden and often empty sandy beaches this region is renowned for is idyllic for a romantic stroll to feel the sand between your toes and watch the waves lap against the shoreline.... the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island and the birth place of Christianity, can be viewed from here too. A little further north is the bird sanctuary at Budle Bay and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to countless thousands of sea and land birds making this location a haven for bird watchers. The sweep of golden sands at Beadnell Bay is popular with water sport enthusiasts only two miles south. The elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon rich river Tweed, is 17 miles north and the historic market town of Alnwick with its own magnificent castle offers many facilities around 12 miles inland. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant set within the largest tree house in Europe. With three double bedrooms all with private shower facilities, Railston Cottage is an excellent choice for the gathering of family and friends seeking contemporary accommodation close to the popular holiday destination of Seahouses and makes an excellent base to explore the twenty miles of Heritage coastline designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
