Sanderling is positioned only half a mile from the sought after fishing port of Seahouses where there are many facilities available, including several pubs, restaurants, and a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. Horse riding is available within 300 yards and there’s an impressive 18-hole golf course on the links close by. Boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands - famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony - depart regularly from the harbour only a mile away. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and where Holy Island can be seen from the wild expanse of golden sandy beach. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle, often referred to as ’ The Windsor of the North’ and ancestral home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) Alnwick Garden is a popular tourist attraction; a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, which includes the Grand Cascade Waterfall, a Poison Garden and a restaurant incorporated within the largest tree house in Europe!
