Red Steads Cottage is situated in a peaceful setting on a working farm uniquely nestled within the prestigious Lord Howick’s Estate. This delightful mid terraced cottage is accessed via a private road and commands pretty views across walled gardens and open countryside. The accommodation is immaculately presented and tastefully furnished throughout. French doors in the lounge area enhance its bright and airy ambience and where the lovely views can be admired.
Howick Hall and Gardens is very close at hand; take time to enjoy refreshments at the Earl Grey Tea House - home of the famous tea. Red Steads is one of three working farms located on the estate and visitors to Red Steads Cottage are welcome to use a private key to the locked gates to give direct access throughout the grounds. Or wander a little further and take the path that leads directly to Sugar Sands Bay or Howick Cove. The Rumbling Kern is a sheltered beach well worth a visit that leads to Craster. The National Cycle route passes the end of the drive to take cyclists along the Heritage coastline.
Red Steads Cottage is extremely well placed to explore this magnificent Heritage shoreline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

No youngsters under the age of 3 years due to close proximity of duck pond. 1 dog welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times. Off road parking for 2 cars in the farmyard to the front.

About the local area

The picture postcard village of Alnmouth is only 5 miles from Red Steads and where there is a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops. Sailing enthusiasts have available yacht and small boat moorings within the sheltered estuary and golfers will delight in the two courses close by; one being a fine 9 hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18 hole course at Foxton enjoying panoramic vistas. The historic market town of Alnwick, with its quaint cobbled streets, offers an abundance of facilities including several restaurants, charming tea rooms, shops, a playhouse.cinema and modern leisure complex with indoor swimming only 7 miles inland. Alnwick Castle has been the setting for many films and television productions including Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy and Alnwick Garden, with its Grand Cascade Waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe are popular visitor attractions. The traditional fishing village of Craster, famous world wide for its oak smoked kippers is only 3 miles away. Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses, a short drive north and see the bird sanctuaries and seal colonies close at hand. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, dominated by its own majestic fortress and renowned for its wide and often empty, expanse of sandy beaches and where Holy Island is visible form the shoreline
