Located just a few minutes’ walk into the town centre this cosy family size holiday home is perfect for friends, families, or couples to spend some well-deserved time by the sea in the popular little town of Amble, reputedly the friendliest port. With a working harbour and popular Sunday market, cute shopping pods, beach huts and plenty of lovely places to eat and drink, it’s a fabulous location for your holidays. Amble has something for all ages and nearby Warkworth is a nice walk where you will find the castle on the hill and some nice pubs and riverside walk. Amble sits at the start of the Heritage Coastal route, Area with Outstanding Natural Beauty with miles of golden beaches, friendly villages peppered with castles and ruins along this rugged unspoilt coastal line.
Close to a great road network it is easy to travel in all directions from here meaning you are never short of somewhere to go; in fact, you can go somewhere different every day if you wish. The ducal town of Alnwick is only a few miles with the fabulous Alnwick Castle featured in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey with cobbled streets and historic sites.
Amble Retreat is a great base with separate a dining room and a small enclosed rear yard, parking by the door, it’s an ideal location for exploring Amble and the delights all over this beautiful county.

About the local area

Warkworth is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Northumberland and not only has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and quality gift shops, but also a magnificent castle, located right in the middle of the village, to admire and explore.

The magnificent cross-shaped keep of Warkworth, crowning a hilltop rising steeply above the River Coquet, dominates one of the largest, strongest and most impressive fortresses in northern England. The castle's most famous owners were the Percy family, whose lion badge can be seen carved on many parts of their stronghold.

There are wonderful riverside walks alongside the pretty River Coquet which encircles the village, to watch the abundance of wildlife such as herons, foxes, migrating birds, and a vast, sandy beach with dramatic dunes and wonderful, far-reaching views up and down the Heritage Coastline.

Cyclists can enjoy an easy 18 mile day ride. The route has no major climbs and is featured in the recently published 'Sustrans Cycle Northumberland' booklet. Starting in the village, the route heads west inland on quiet lanes, and passes through Guyzance, Acklington and Broomhill. Rejoining the coast at the vast expanse of Druridge Bay and returning north via the fishing port of Amble.
