Description

This pair of terraced, character holiday cottages stand next door to one another and are in an ideal location for exploring this magnificent coastline peppered with castles and friendly villages. They sit at the northern tip of Druridge Bay in Hauxley, within walking distance of a sandy beach and nature reserve. The Moorings (ref 30161) is an end-terraced cottage and has been restored and furnished to a very good standard. Clutter Cottage (ref 26888) has been restored throughout and enjoys lovely views from the large back garden. It is only two minutes in the car to Amble, reputed to be ‘the friendliest port’, where boat trips can be taken from the still working harbour with a weekly Sunday market, great fish and chips, plenty of eateries, and an award-winning ice cream shop. There are several walking trails of special interest and a variety of wildlife to enjoy nearby. Alnwick, the ducal town famed for the castle used in the ’Harry Potter’ films, and enchanting water gardens, is only 20 minutes, with an abundance of shops and eateries and cobbled streets. A wonderful spot for walkers and cyclists. Within easy reach and worth a visit are Holy Island (accessible at low tide), with its fairytale castle, and Seahouses with boat trips to the Farne Islands. An ideal central location for exploring the whole of this unspoilt, friendly county. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile. Properties 26888 and 30161 are next door to one another and can be booked independently or together for larger groups of up to 12 guests. This pair of terraced, character holiday cottages stand next door to one another and are in an ideal location for exploring this magnificent coastline peppered with castles and friendly villages. About the local area

Warkworth is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Northumberland and not only has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and quality gift shops, but also a magnificent castle, located right in the middle of the village, to admire and explore.

The magnificent cross-shaped keep of Warkworth, crowning a hilltop rising steeply above the River Coquet, dominates one of the largest, strongest and most impressive fortresses in northern England. The castle's most famous owners were the Percy family, whose lion badge can be seen carved on many parts of their stronghold.

There are wonderful riverside walks alongside the pretty River Coquet which encircles the village, to watch the abundance of wildlife such as herons, foxes, migrating birds, and a vast, sandy beach with dramatic dunes and wonderful, far-reaching views up and down the Heritage Coastline.

Cyclists can enjoy an easy 18 mile day ride. The route has no major climbs and is featured in the recently published 'Sustrans Cycle Northumberland' booklet. Starting in the village, the route heads west inland on quiet lanes, and passes through Guyzance, Acklington and Broomhill. Rejoining the coast at the vast expanse of Druridge Bay and returning north via the fishing port of Amble.
