Suncroft is a perfect holiday home for families or friends, only 600 yards from the picture postcard village of Warkworth. In a slightly elevated position, Suncroft is a detached property set on the perimeter of the village and has large lawned gardens to four sides with a choice of two sitting areas to maximise the sun. It is an easy stroll to the large sandy beach, quaint bespoke shops, friendly pubs and tearooms and a pretty riverside. You can leave the car behind and enjoy a lovely meal and drink in one of the local pubs. Warkworth Castle sits at the top of the village and the old 13th-century church make fine backdrops in this popular village. Suncroft is ideal for all ages, furnished with care and attention with a Visit England Gold Award, the owner really goes the extra mile to provide a relaxing and tasteful property for visitors of all generations to enjoy. Outside is a large playhouse with swing and slide ideal for the smaller visitors, and the large well cared for garden is ideal for those sunny days or evenings where you can enjoy a barbecue, should you wish to stay in and relax. The small town of Amble is only 2 miles, with a hugely popular Sunday morning market, harbour, pod style shops, fish restaurants and marina. Nearby the ducal town of Alnwick with the grand castle used in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, make a lovely day out. From Warkworth it is easy to explore the whole of the Heritage Coastline taking in the many friendly unspoilt villages along the way. Stop at one of the glorious sandy beaches or drop into Craster for some famous Craster kippers. Don’t miss a trip over to Holy Island, checking the tide for the causeway times. Suncroft really is a fabulous property in an ideal location offering visitors a relaxing, peaceful and memorable stay. Beach ¾ mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

About the local area

Warkworth is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Northumberland and not only has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and quality gift shops, but also a magnificent castle, located right in the middle of the village, to admire and explore.

The magnificent cross-shaped keep of Warkworth, crowning a hilltop rising steeply above the River Coquet, dominates one of the largest, strongest and most impressive fortresses in northern England. The castle's most famous owners were the Percy family, whose lion badge can be seen carved on many parts of their stronghold.

There are wonderful riverside walks alongside the pretty River Coquet which encircles the village, to watch the abundance of wildlife such as herons, foxes, migrating birds, and a vast, sandy beach with dramatic dunes and wonderful, far-reaching views up and down the Heritage Coastline.

Cyclists can enjoy an easy 18 mile day ride. The route has no major climbs and is featured in the recently published 'Sustrans Cycle Northumberland' booklet. Starting in the village, the route heads west inland on quiet lanes, and passes through Guyzance, Acklington and Broomhill. Rejoining the coast at the vast expanse of Druridge Bay and returning north via the fishing port of Amble.
