The property is idyllically situated, just a short stroll away from Druridge Bay Country Park, which leads to a glorious 7 mile beach and expansive sand dunes in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on a Heritage Coastline.
This luxurious, Scandinavian-style house, built by the owners’ with 200-year-old logs, is a tranquil space where you will receive a warm and pleasant welcome from the friendly owners’. The home has been designed to sustain tranquillity and is an adult space for discerning guests who will delight in the property’s natural light levels, and who require a fascinating place for rest and renewal. There are five individual al fresco seating areas within the prize-winning shared water garden, where you will be able to enjoy delicious meals, especially in the sunken roofed area. Enjoy the varying aspects of this original ornamental water garden with its changing wildlife scenes. An ideal setting for photographers, readers and painters alike.
Enter up a ramp into a boot room, where the main front door is situated on the left. The entrance hall houses a spiral staircase, commissioned picture window, sauna and a utility room with washing machine and feature doors. Continue on into the open plan living space, with an outstanding 30ft glass windowed floor-to-ceiling wall, built-in TV system and a raised dining area and kitchen. The kitchen has an induction hob, two multi-purpose ovens (one with a built-in microwave), built-in separate fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, that share a Jack and Jill double en-suite with walk-in shower, two wash basins, a toilet and third door that leads directly over to the sauna. On the first floor there is a master suite with ample office space and second seating area which overlooks the water garden. The visually private bedroom with its feature curved walls creates an interesting space with a double bed, double Jacuzzi bath, built-in wardrobes, built-in dressing table with lighted mirror area and an en-suite shower room. There is off road parking for two cars, Wi-Fi available and Freeview TVs in the living area and all three bedrooms.
The Swallows Retreat sits amongst a small cluster of similar style log properties on the fringe of Hadston, and provides an exemplary holiday retreat for couples and families. It is a perfect base to visit the nearby Druridge Bay Country Park that has a nature sanctuary and many water sports available on Ladyburn Lake. The traditional fishing village of Amble, known locally as `the friendliest port’, is 3½ miles north, where fishing and boat trips to Coquet Island can be arranged, and Morpeth with a wide range of facilities and river walks, is 9 miles south. Meander through the cobbles and explore the history of the town, stopping off at one of the plentiful tea rooms, modern coffee shops or maybe a glass of wine in the beautiful arcade.
The retired owners live in Swallow Lodge a small well-insulated completely separate space that adjoins the property. They discreetly maintain the garden to its high standard and look to serve by putting out the garden furniture, seat covers and cushions for your pleasure, weather permitting. Excellent value spa days with breakfast, light lunch and one treatment included, as well as use of the pool and all usual facilities, can be arranged through the owners for £60 per day, if booked well in advance. About the local area

Warkworth is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the whole of Northumberland and not only has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and quality gift shops, but also a magnificent castle, located right in the middle of the village, to admire and explore.

The magnificent cross-shaped keep of Warkworth, crowning a hilltop rising steeply above the River Coquet, dominates one of the largest, strongest and most impressive fortresses in northern England. The castle's most famous owners were the Percy family, whose lion badge can be seen carved on many parts of their stronghold.

There are wonderful riverside walks alongside the pretty River Coquet which encircles the village, to watch the abundance of wildlife such as herons, foxes, migrating birds, and a vast, sandy beach with dramatic dunes and wonderful, far-reaching views up and down the Heritage Coastline.

Cyclists can enjoy an easy 18 mile day ride. The route has no major climbs and is featured in the recently published 'Sustrans Cycle Northumberland' booklet. Starting in the village, the route heads west inland on quiet lanes, and passes through Guyzance, Acklington and Broomhill. Rejoining the coast at the vast expanse of Druridge Bay and returning north via the fishing port of Amble.
