Description

With a private hot tub to the rear complete with bath robes and slippers, this cosy cottage is perfect for star gazing over the dark sky. The Stables is ideal for couples or a small family, and there is a cosy wood burner for those chilly evenings. The property is conveniently set almost opposite the friendly village pub and near to the only shop and post office in the village. This end-terraced cottage is in a great location for exploring all the surrounding areas of the county. Set on the very edge of the highly acclaimed International Dark Sky Park, the Northumberland National Park is perfect for exploring and ideal for walkers, cyclists, star gazers or just those who wish to relax and unwind. Dating back to the 1700’s, the beams are now painted white to give a more airy and light feel throughout the property. Have fun with the Amazon Alexa Dot or watch the Smart television on cooler evenings if you’re not visiting the local pub. Fishing at Sweethope Loughs is popular with fly fishermen and is only a short drive away. The friendly small town of Bellingham is just 4½ miles away, with a few shops and pubs. A real bonus of staying at The Stables is the location as you are within an hour of being somewhere totally different, from Northumberland’s diverse Heritage Coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the hills, there is something for everyone. Corbridge is only 16 miles where you can stop off whilst visiting one of the Roman Forts along Hadrian’s Wall. The border town of Jedburgh is only 30 miles and Alnwick Castle is also only 30 miles so you really are in the centre of everything at The Stables. Beach 35 miles. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 75 yards.

About the local area

Northumberland's western edges contain some of its most spectacular destinations, and the Kielder and Redesdale region is no exception. While the countryside is remote, and all the more beautiful for that, there is a wealth of activities on offer for everyone.

Kielder Water & Forest Park is the site of Northern Europe's largest man-made lake. There are also acres of forest to explore. Purpose-built walking trails create perfect forest walks to see a wide range of rare wildlife including the native red squirrels, deer, otters and badgers.

Dedicated mountain bike tracks including a bike skills area scatter the area. Water sports enthusiasts can take to Kielder Water from Easter to October and the lake offers a great challenge to keen trout anglers between March and October.

However if a relaxing stroll is more your thing, you can strike out on your own and explore Wild Redesdale, a great place just to enjoy nature in its most natural form, following in the footsteps of the Romans while hearing the call of Moorland birds.

Kielder is also an ideally placed for exploring the rest of Northumberland, Cumbria, Hadrian's Wall Country and the Scottish Borders.
