Description

Only 2 miles from Rothbury, set within the Northumberland National Park, Coquet View has commanding views over the Coquet Valley and is a perfect location for families and friends. Set in the small hamlet of Great Tosson by the historical site of Tosson Tower, an English Heritage run monument built around 600 years ago.
This large, four bedroom, ground floor holiday cottage has something for all age groups, with Wi-Fi and its outstanding location. The cast iron stove is a welcoming feature on those chilly evenings, where you can sit back and take in the view from the pretty bay window facing the hills and valleys. The Northumberland National Park is a designated Dark Sky Park which means it is fantastic for stargazing. A great location for fisherman, with its private stretch of free fishing along the River Coquet, where the catch is salmon and trout (licence required). Cyclists, walkers and wildlife lovers return to this tranquil and peaceful location, where the local attractions can easily be reached.
Alnwick is a 30-minute drive, with its cobbled streets, famous castle and enchanting gardens, ensuring a great day out. The Heritage coast (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is only around 20 miles, where you will find castles, golden sands and friendly villages selling local fresh produce and the catch of the day. Rothbury, with a pretty river walk and children’s park, has plenty of friendly pubs, cafes and independent shops. Beach 15 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
Coquet View can be booked together with The Steadings (UK3030) to accommodate up to 14 guests.

About the local area

The Rothbury and Coquetdale area is dominated by the rugged but beautiful landscape of the Northumberland National Park. Nestled in this rolling moorland you'll find a selection of postcard-pretty villages like Longframlington, Thropton and Sharperton. Rothbury is the biggest of these communities and calls itself the capital of Coquetdale.

The town offers a peaceful haven. The River Coquet meanders through its centre, creating a pleasant walk along the river bank. The High Street boasts a number of traditional independent shops, there is a quieter and gentler pace of life and a selection of country pubs to enjoy a traditional pub lunch or relaxing evening meal.

Just two miles east of the town is Cragside House, Gardens and Estate . An historic home and marvel of Victorian ingenuity - it was the first house in the world to be lit by hydro electricity - with miles of paths running through spectacular rocky and woodland scenery. Today it is managed by the National Trust.

The Lady's Well at nearby Holystone is an ancient attractive well thought to have been constructed by the Romans on the site of a natural spring and is well worth a visit.

Thrunton Woods, Edlingham Castle and Brinkburn Priory are rich in wildlife and the ideal spot for a summer picnic. North of Coquetdale you will find the Breamish Valley with its cold Cheviot streams and gorse-covered hill country cradling the charming villages of Powburn and Ingram.

From Rothbury you can explore the surrounding Simonside Hills and Cheviot Hills and all of Northumberland National Park. Walkers and cyclists will love the spectacular countryside
