Description

Commanding breathtaking panoramic views toward the stunning Northumberland National Park from every room, Milburn Cottage offers well presented and attractive accommodation in a tranquil setting. This delightful semi-detached cottage enjoys a rural aspect situated on a working farm near the friendly hamlet of Sharperton found nestled within the wild and beautiful Coquet Valley. The double aspect living room makes it a bright, spacious room and the cosy wood burner is perfect to snuggle in front of and watch the flames dance as you relax after a day exploring the wilderness that surrounds Milburn Cottage. Both the kitchen and bathroom are contemporary and fresh and each bedroom boasts a magnificent uninterrupted view from their picture windows.
A fully enclosed patio garden with furniture on the raised and sheltered decked area at the rear is a perfect haven to watch the children at play, or rest and enjoy a spot of alfresco dining whilst admiring the view. Fly fishing for brown trout, sea trout and salmon for two rods along a private stretch of the River Coquet can be arranged directly with the owner. Ramblers and cyclists will enjoy discovering the many bridle ways and footpaths which surround the property. Beach 23 miles. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles. Milburn Cottage (CC324043) can be booked together with Plover Cottage (UK3045), 350 yards away, Hazelnut Cottage (UK3172) and Squirrel Cottage (UK3149) 700 yards away to accommodate up to 15 guests.

About the local area

Only 6.5 miles away is the popular stone built small town of Rothbury, which sits at the foot of the Lordenshaw and Simonside Hills where a great sandstone ridge is formed and is a Special Area of Conservation with 360 degree views from coasts to hills. Rothbury offers an abundance of facilities including several shops, pubs and quaint tea rooms and golf can be arranged on its riverside course. Close by is the grade 2 listed National Trust property and estate of Cragside; it was the first home to be lit by hydroelectricity and the elegant house and grounds are well worth a  visit. Take a trip to Otterburn Mill to the west or visit the bustling market town of Alnwick 15 miles to the east. This historic town is protected by its dramatic castle, the ancestral home to the Duke of Norhumberland and is also famous as the film location for Harry Potter. The superb Alnwick Garden, with its Grand Cascade Waterfall and the restaurant in the largest tree house in Europe is a popular visitor attraction too.
The heritage coastline this area is renowned for, and designated as An Area of Outstanding  Natural Beauty is less than 20 miles away ensuring Milburn Cottage provides an excellent central base for exploring both the wild and lonely beauty of the unspoilt heather- clad hills to the west along with the golden, sandy beaches to the east
